Plymouth Argyle 0 - 1 Burton Albion

The Brewers outclass the Pilgrims!

Both teams have been in good form so far this season with Argyle looking to potentially go top of the league which there was a good chance of being as many games were postponed due to international call ups. Burton on the other hand, were looking for their second away victory of the season at Home Park. The match gets underway, immediately Plymouth were realising that Burton are a better team than they thought. Burton constantly coming down the wing trying to put crosses in as Alex Mitchell makes an outstanding tackle to block a shot that might have gone in if it wasn’t for him. Argyle comes forward as the ball is wiped in from Curtis, the keeper misses the punch and Pepple just heads it wide, that was a good chance. Argyle have a corner around half an hour in, taken short as White curls one into the box and Evans heads it over. It was a huge chance completely unmarked and that should be the first of the afternoon. That’s the Half time whistle and both sides yet to find the breakthrough, goalless at the break.

The second half gets underway, Argyle looking a bit more threatening with Pepple being pulled back constantly by the Burton defence. Burton do have a chance though as the shot comes in it’s an amazing save by the Murphy Cooper the Argyle keeper, but the rebound is in. Jack Armer with the goal in the 70th minute, it has been coming for the Brewers and they have found a way. Just 20 mins left now, Argyle needs something soon. They make a few changes with Curtis and Pleguezelo coming off for Amaechi and Ibrahim. Instantly, they make a difference as Ibrahim plays an incredible ball through to Amaechi but he strikes it over the bar, that was the golden opportunity for him. Amaechi a few minutes later wips a delightful ball in but nobody can get a connection on it. Burton are nearly there as we enter added time. Constant blocks being made by Burton as they have defended like heroes today in the south west.

The full time whistle goes, Burton do indeed get their second away win of the season. Argyle on the other hand, it just didn’t happen for them today, couldn’t breakthrough the brewers wall at the back. They also miss the chance of going into the lead of league one do the pilgrims. Hoping to improve their form against Leyton Orient next week, a real disappointment and they will not be impressed.
