Two goals in two minutes earns Leicester first win!

Leicester City 2 - 0 Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth were starting to hit the ground running with their first win against Bradford on Saturday as Leicester are still winless from August which was a real disappointment. Leicester and Argyle know that this is a big opportunity for both of them and it was a must not lose. The game gets underway and immediately Jakub Stolarczyk is down within the first 15 seconds. After 5 mins of delay he eventually comes off for Alex McCarthy as the match finally gets back underway.
Leicester came forward a few times, Bobby Reid looking the most convincing to score as one is blasted over and another just wide of the post. Both teams were very open as McCarthy kept making errors at the back for Leicester as Ibrahim has a go at the near post and it’s just wide. Leicester come forward once again though as Will Alves shoots and it’s deflected and in. The Foxes lead in stoppage time, very unfortunate for Alex Mitchell starting for the first time away from home this season for Argyle. Leicester come forward again as Murphy Cooper palms it into danger and it’s another, Harry Howell scores this time. 2-0 to Leicester just before the break and Argyle are collapsing. The referee blows the whistle for half time and Leicester are on course to win their first game of the season.
The second half gets underway, constant passes from Leicester falling to Plymouth as they subbed both of their wingers off which definitely made an impact. Constant chances from Argyle kept coming as Hartridge wins the header from the free kick buts its saved by McCarthy first real good chance Argyle have had, Leicester were getting very soft fouls which really helped them, Bim Pepple is also on the pitch now as he strikes another one but it’s another great save from McCarthy who has been the standout of the half for Leicester.
Matty Sorinola the substitute has a shot from distance as it hits the post and Watts tries to force it over the line but the flags up for offside. Caleb Watts has another shot from about 6 yards but it’s straight at the keeper as McCarthy is hanging on to this clean sheet here for the Foxes. McCarthy once again pulls out another world class save this time from Will Evans, Argyle’s number 9, somehow Argyle still can’t find the back of the net.
Time is up for Argyle, they were not good enough tonight at all, a real opportunity missed. Leicester finally win their first game of the season in League 1 and go above Plymouth in the table, but there is still room for improvement from both sides this season upcoming.
