In an intense league one clash at Home Park on the 21st February, Plymouth destroyed league leaders Cardiff 5-2. This secured their third win on the bounce after getting ever closer to the play offs in their bid for promotion. The match was played in front of a sell out home and away end, and they saw one hell of a game.

Plymouth took advantage in the 28th minute through a brilliant strike from Lorent Tolaj. Cardiff struggled to defend against the Pilgrims of the strike duo of Bim Pepple and Tolaj who made his first start after injury. Pepple doubled Argyle’s advantage 3 mins later after a brilliant cross from Argyle’s captain Joe Edwards.

However, the Bluebirds responded immediately after Argyle’s second to half the deficit, the goal coming from Kellyman who’s currently on loan from Chelsea. Argyle hit back immediately after Cardiff's response as the flying Bim Pepple scored yet again, making it 5 goals in 4 matches for the Canadian. The leaders got another one back though with an exceptional finish from Kellyman, earning his very first brace for Cardiff as he made it 3-2 right before the whistle blew before half time.

The second half got underway seeing Cardiff come out with really high pressing energy, dominating possession. Tolaj and Argyle were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute, and he sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 4-2. 13 mins later Argyle scored with Mathias Ross, bagging 2 goals from corners, 2 games in a row. He put the game to bed and the win looks very secured now.

The match finished 5-2 in favour of Plymouth, leaving Cardiff deflated for not taking second half chances and defending really poorly. Manager Tom Cleverley was overjoyed with his team's performance and resilience, whilst Cardiff on the other hand lost their first game in just over 2 months.
