Wimbledon 1 - 3 Plymouth Argyle

It was a close mashup between the Dons and the Pilgrims going into a relegation battle and play offs battle, coming into the last few weeks of the season. Argyle’s incredible away record was set to be continued as they faced Wimbledon, a side really struggling for goals and who are on the brink. The match got underway at Plough lane as Argyle started superbly. Few chances came early doors as Argyle have a corner; it’s swung into the middle, headed on my Boateng and it’s in, Alex Mitchell with the goal! He has been incredible this season for Plymouth, on loan from Charlton Athletic and he gets another goal for the greens.

Wimbledon need to respond quickly as the cross comes in and just wide from Alastair Smith, Argyle get away with one there.

More chances came for both teams but there was no break through for either side as Argyle come forward one last time in the half, Tolaj gets pulled down by Ryan Johnson, the Wimbledon defender and the referee says nothing, the half time whistle goes and it’s still 1-0 to Argyle.

The second half got underway, with a flyer from Wimbledon as they come forward really early in the half and it’s in, the danger man Alastair Smith equalises to score Wimbledon’s first goal in league one in 5 games. Argyle now had problems and again they concede early into the second half. Argyle were pressing high to try and get the next goal as Caleb Watts rattles the crossbar, they were looking more dangerous than ever this second half. Argyle score from their man Lorent Tolaj to put Argyle back in front in a huge game for them. Argyle retake the lead in style, as Tolaj scores again.

Argyle now in control as Wimbledon couldn’t find a way through, Argyle comes forward again Dale crosses it to the back post and Pepple scores, game set match now for the greens. Pepple scores for the first time since Huddersfield. Argyle were looking for more but unfortunately they couldn’t as the match ends 3-1 and Argyle win and Wimbledon lose yet again.

What a win for the greens in the capital as they march on towards the last few weeks of the season in style. Bradford is their next game on Tuesday which is a huge game for them to keep their form up. Whilst Wimbledon on the other hand, head to the north west to face Wigan in what is arguably the game of the season for them.
